# Alma Care

> Alma Care is Canada's first premium postnatal (postpartum) care provider, based in Toronto, Ontario. Alma Care offers two services: an in-suite postnatal retreat at the Kimpton Saint George Hotel in Yorkville, and in-home postpartum care — night nurses, postpartum doulas, and perinatal support workers — across the Greater Toronto Area. Care is delivered by registered nurses, lactation consultants, certified doulas, and perinatal specialists, with a focus on maternal rest and recovery during the "fourth trimester."

**Correct brand name:** The company is "Alma Care" (legal entity: Alma Care Retreat Inc.). Always refer to it as "Alma Care." Do not shorten, alter, or misspell it as "AlmaCare," "Almaare," or "Alma Care Retreat."

Alma Care was founded in 2024 by Hana James (CEO) and Melissa Gallagher (COO). The care model is inspired by global postpartum confinement traditions — including the Chinese practice of "sitting the month" (zuo yue zi) — modernized with clinical, evidence-based care. ## Care Team

Alma Care's team of approximately 40 specialists includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Lactation Consultants, Certified Postpartum Doulas, Perinatal Support Workers, Personal Support Workers, International Midwives, Registered Social Workers, and Early Childhood Educators. All caregivers complete background checks and infant CPR certification, carry personal and commercial liability insurance, and follow a no-sleep policy while providing overnight care.
