About the Role:
We are seeking Certified Postpartum Doulas based in Ottawa to join our growing Care Team. As a key member of the Alma Care family, you will deliver in-home, personalized support to new mothers and their babies. You’ll bring compassion, professionalism, and expertise into every home you enter—becoming a trusted source of comfort, education, and hands-on care during a family's most intimate and transformative time.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-home postpartum doula support for daytime (min. 4 hrs) and overnight shifts (10–12 hrs)
- Support physical and emotional recovery of the mother following birth
- Assist and educate on infant care basics: feeding (breast/chest and bottle), soothing, sleeping, diapering, and bathing
- Offer non-judgmental emotional support, reassurance, and active listening
- Monitor and encourage healthy postpartum healing practices
- Prepare and serve nourishing meals/snacks in line with postpartum wellness
- Lead or support Alma Care workshops on postpartum recovery and infant care
- Provide infant care while mothers rest, shower, or attend appointments
- Light housework related to mother and baby’s needs
- Maintain thorough, respectful communication and documentation
About You:
- Certified Postpartum Doula with hands-on postpartum care experience
- Experienced in infant feeding support, including breastfeeding and sleep guidance
- Deep understanding of the emotional and physical needs of postpartum mothers
- Calm, nurturing, reliable and adaptable with excellent communication skills
- Passionate about improving postpartum care in Canada
- Able to travel to homes within a 40km radius of your residence
- Respectful of diverse family structures, cultures, and parenting philosophies
- Experience with twins or multiples is a strong asset
Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized postpartum doula training organization (e.g. DONA, CAPPA, ProDoula, etc.)
- Current Infant CPR (Level B) and First Aid certification
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the past year)
- Food Handlers Certification (preferred)
- Personal liability insurance required
- Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (asset)
Schedule:
- Minimum of 3 shifts per week (combination of day, evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday availability)
- On-call flexibility appreciated
